I searched for several weeks for an appropriate cleaner for our church's antique (we are talking over 100 years old) altar crucifix and processional torches which are both brass-plated. I was worried that the brass would come off in the process, but as soon as I tried The Victorian House Brass and Copper cleaner, I knew I had found the right stuff! It did not remove all of the tarnish, but considering how many decades worth of tarnish there was, it did a phenomenal job. I had to use a separate polish to really bring out the shine of the brass, but I would certainly recommend this cleaner, especially for very old items. **** Thank you for the review. The Brass and Copper Restorer will clean even heavy tarnish as long as there is no lacquer or sealer with a little more abrasion with the steel wool. A few months ago I sent you a picture of the problem I had with a chandelier that I couldn't solve with the various polishes on the market, like Brasso etc. Your copper &brass cleaner did the job, albeit with some scrubbing using the steel wool supplied. Your directions are for removing old tarnish I believe. This didn't work for my problem which was in the coating that had been put on the brass. We are happy with the result. It probably saved me from having to buy a new chandelier eventually. Anth.H
Had a family tray with lots of very heavy patterns that had so much green paste in it I was ready to just get rid of it. I got it clean in no time with the Brass cleaner and was amazed that it didn't stink. It is a liquid that looks like water- I was expecting a paste I suppose but it just made the tarnish dissappear. Wonderful product. I may have to try the wood cleaner next.
